Las Vegas’ other strip enhances its properties

It’s easy to forget that there are other casinos outside of downtown Las Vegas and the Las Vegas Strip. The property owners along the 17-mile stretch of Boulder Highway, the Boulder Strip, want you to remember them. They’ve been making improvements to their properties to attract the locals as well as out-of-towners.

Travel Weekly is reporting that Sam’s Town, a 648-room resort at the east end of the strip, made over $100 million in renovations and expansions since 2001.

Boulder Station, a 300-room hotel-casino near the intersection of Sahara Avenue and I-515, is making $50 million in renovations, which is approximately one-fifth of the property’s original cost.

The newest property, the Eastside Cannery, near Flamingo and Boulder Highway, opened in August at a cost of $250 million. All 307 guest rooms and suites are equipped with floor-to-ceiling windows with breathtaking views of the mountains and the Strip. Each room also comes with a widescreen plasma TV.

The 65,000-square foot casino is home to “more than 2,000 slot machines, 26 table games, a 450-seat bingo hall, a live keno lounge, a first-class poker room and a race and sports book.”

One Six, one of the dining options at the Eastside Cannery, is on the 16th floor. It boasts an amazing view of the Vegas skyline.

This fire and ice themed hot spot is as comfortable as it is cool. One Six, on the 16th floor of Eastside Cannery Casino & Hotel, is a lounge and kitchen offering guests a panoramic view of the Las Vegas Valley. Guests will also enjoy a breathtaking outdoor terrace, cozy furnishings, stylish feature bar with over 100 premium bottles wine.

One Six provides a retro revival of familiar favorites made from the best American ingredients. The menu is divided into snacks, small bites, big bites and sweet treats. Perfect for a social event where groups of friends order several plates to share or for a single looking for a light meal, there is something for everyone.

The fire and ice themed facility provides seating for approximately 110 guests inside and 20 guests on the outdoor patio. One Six will be open for dinner only Thursday-Sunday and will be available for private events Monday-Wednesday.

Next time you’re in Las Vegas, be sure to check out the “other strip.”
