Spring Airlines considers selling standing tickets
China’s Spring Airlines is considering selling standing tickets if approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).
[Spring chairman]Wang [Zhenghua] said the standing tickets would be 30 percent to 40 percent cheaper than air tickets for flights less than two hours. He also said Airbus is willing to retrofit its A320 aircraft with standing-room cabins, but the carrier has not yet received CAAC approval owing to safety concerns.
No automated messages from missing Malaysian jet
The Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 that disappeared did not make automated contact with flight-data monitoring systems after disappearing from radar, said two people familiar with the matter.
The Boeing 777-200ER is equipped with a maintenance computer capable of talking to the ground automatically through short messages known as ACARS.
These help technicians prepare any necessary repairs and shorten turnaround times at the destination.
