As we relax after paying taxes, it may be time to focus on cities that tax tourism the least. They rely on tourists spending more on hotels, restaurants and shopping where they can enjoy the economic benefits of travel.
Last year The Global Business Travel Association did a study about taxation and came up with this list of US cities that tax tourists the least. If you want more bang for your buck, these towns might be at the top of your list.
1. Fort Lauderdale, FL
Tax burden of $22.21 per day.
2. Fort Myers, FL
An average $22.21 in taxes for travelers.
3. West Palm Beach, FL
Tax burden at $22.21 per day.
4. Detroit, MI
An average tax burden of only $22.37 per day.
5. Portland, OR
A surprisingly low average of $22.45 in travel taxes per day.
6. Orange County, CA
A tax burden of $22.79.
7. Burbank, CA
A rate of $23.74 per day.
8. Ontario, CA
Just $24.08 per day.
9. Honolulu, HI
Aloha to taxes in paradise — an average of only $24.38 per day.
10. Orlando, FL
A tax rate of $24.50 per day.
