This weekend we take a look at a love story from the air in Argentina, read about Brits bashing Britain regarding tourism and expose Trip Advisor’s top nude beaches.
A widower’s tribute his late wife, a guitar from the air
In General Lavalle, Argentina, visible only from the air is a giant guitar created by an adoring husband for his lost wife. It is a love affair planted to be seen from the heavens. The guitar design stretches two-thirds of a mile and consists of 7,000 trees.
The green guitar is the handiwork of a farmer named Pedro Martin Ureta, who is now 70. He embedded the design into his farm many years ago, and maintains it to this day, as a tribute to his late wife, Graciela Yraizoz, who died in 1977 at the age of 25.
…
A few years after his wife’s death, Mr. Ureta decided to comply with her wishes about the design of the farm. Landscapers he consulted were predictably nonplussed, so he took on the job himself. “You just put a guitar in front of you and begin to take measurements and study proportions,” he says.
His giant guitar is an unusual example of what’s known as land art, in which forms are built into the natural environment, said Nancy Somerville, chief executive officer of the American Society of Landscape Architects.
Lonely Planet: UK is “overpriced, lacking in quality”
Lonely Planet, owned by BBC, is biting the hand that feeds it — blasting the U.K. as a lousy tourism destination for those who need to get value for their money.
“While they found some fantastic places, there were many which were overpriced or lacking in quality.
“Unfortunately at a time when everyone is in desperate need of a great value summer getaway some of Britain’s tourism industry just doesn’t deliver.”
…
The guide also found that despite its good restaurants London also offered overpriced food.
“You’re often better spending £5 on a top-notch curry in Birmingham or a homemade steak-and-ale pie in a country pub in Devon than forking out £30 in a restaurant for a ‘modern European’ concoction that tastes like it came from a can,” it said.
Trip Advisor’s Top 10 nude beaches
Their listing of nude beaches includes far more detail than simply a list. On subsequent pages of the site, Trip Advisor notes differences toward nudity on beaches among Europeans, Canadians, Americans and Australia. Guess which country is the most prudish.
