San Diego Panda Cam
Lynn Rosen who discovered the baby bald eagles nest has found a playful baby panda bear at the San Diego Zoo. It is not the same wild show that the eaglets presented with Ma and Pa bring home flipping fish and their first flying adventures, but entertaining none the less.
Giant panda Bai Yun gave birth to her fifth cub on August 5, 2009 at the San Diego Zoo. About the size of a cell phone at birth, this baby panda’s iconic black and white coloration should be visible by the end of the month. The sex of the mostly hairless, pink newborn will not be known for some time.
The San Diego Zoo has had a close relationship with zoos in China since 1987 when the first pair of Giant Pandas arrived. Now the San Diego Zoo is home to five of these giant pandas.
According to the zoo’s website,
The San Diego Zoo has had a love affair with giant pandas ever since two of the black-and-white bears came to visit in 1987. After years of red tape and tons of application paperwork, the Zoo and China agreed on a 12-year research loan of two giant pandas, Bai Yun and Shi Shi. A brand-new exhibit area was built for our panda guests, which has since been expanded and renovated and is now called the Giant Panda Research Station. Although we currently have five giant pandas, our facility can comfortably house up to six!
