Going on vacation and keeping the weight off

Summer is in full swing and despite the recession, some of us are still managing to get away for a little R&R. We have worked real hard all winter to shed those winter pounds to get into holiday shape. Some of us are still working at it. So now it’s time to be on vacation, looking good. Why gain back the pounds we worked so hard to lose?

Here’s the scoop: It doesn’t have to be that way.

One way to keep those calories burning is by taking (and using) a pedometer just clip it onto your shorts and watch how magically you become aware that you should take the stairs instead of the elevator for the buffet breakfast at the resort.

Taking your resistance band, like Strength Training with Resistance Bands, with you will give you a tool to use in your room while waiting for the kids/significant other to come out of the shower. A deflatable resistance ball would be a great tool too.

Lounging at the beach in front of the sun is definitely my cup of tea, but why not plan at least one activity each day that will be fun and require you to move around? You may want to try kayaking, taking a surfing lesson, horseback riding, or go for a simple hike.

Be sure to take a pair of comfortable running shoes with you, wear breathable clothing, apply sunscreen, and stay hydrated during any physical activity you engage in.

Following some of these simple tips will help you stay active while you are vacationing and help you feel relaxed, rejuvenated, and already back on track once you return home.
