Delta/Northwest reduces award ticket fuel surcharge

Just when you thought that fuel surcharges are here to stay, Delta/Northwest has decided to drop fuel surchages on award tickets. The change may be retroactive, meaning that if you booked a ticket prior to this rule being instituted, you can call and they may refund the fuel fee.

Gadling reports that, while British Airways and Virgin Atlantic are reducing their fuel surcharges on tickets, Delta/Northwest is taking a half step by eliminating the $25 to $100 fuel surcharges on SkyMiles and WorldPerks award tickets from the US and Canada.

Additionally, Delta will reduce the direct ticketing fee from $25 to $20 when you call and make a reservation directly with a Delta agent and it will also eliminate $3 curbside check-in administrative fee.

Read the details of these reductions in fees (including new fees they have just instituted) at Delta’s website.
